In addition, New York law requires publishing a notice of LLC formation in two local newspapers.

New York provides two consequences for entities that do not comply with the publication requirement:
1. Your company cannot use the New York court system to file a lawsuit until the publication requirement is completed retroactively.
2. Your business may have a poor reputation and you may not receive large contracts that require a Certificate of Good Standing, and if you are sued, your liability protection may be challenged.
