In general, people use the word "interview" to describe all kinds of different things.
1. An interview for those who arrived on a visa. At this interview, they decide whether to approve asylum right away or deny it and send you to court, like those who came through Mexico.
2. A long credible fear interview - usually lasts 3-6 hours.

This interview is always conducted in detention, but very rarely at the border.

If you receive a negative decision, it essentially means deportation, and you must challenge it in court. As a rule, you have no more than 24 hours to file an appeal.
