1. To file online, you must create a USCIS online account at https://my.uscis.gov/
Each family member must have a separate account, including children.
In your account menu, select: File a form online ➡️ I-765 ➡️ choose the required category.
At this time, the following categories can be filed online:
- (a)(12) - Temporary Protected Status (You are submitting an initial Form I-821 or you have an approved Form I-821);
- (c)(3)(A) - F-1 student, pre-completion OPT;
- (c)(3)(B) - F-1 student, post-completion OPT;
- (c)(3)(C) - F-1 student, 24-month extension for STEM students (students holding a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics);
- (c)(8) - Application for Employment Authorization Based on Pending Form I-589, Application for Asylum or for Withholding of Removal;
- (c)(11) - Parole;
- (c)(19) - Temporary Protected Status (You have a pending Form I-821);
- (c)(33) - Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) (You must have a pending or approved Form I-821D in order to file Form I-765)

3. Upload supporting documents
4. Pay the filing fee (if required)
After you submit the form, within 72 hours (most often within a minute) you will receive a notice in your account confirming that USCIS accepted it - Form I-797C Receipt Notice. Also, if required, you may receive an ASC Appointment Notice (biometrics appointment notice).

In your USCIS online account, you can track your case status and you will receive notifications when your application is approved (Approval Notice) and when your card is produced and mailed.
