What should I do if there is no court date?

(Updated:22 January 2026)

If you are in the court system but no date for your next hearing is listed, most often you simply need to wait. This usually means that your hearing was canceled or rescheduled and a new date has not yet been set.

If the system shows that your case is pending but no upcoming hearing date is available, you should continue checking the system every week to make sure you do not miss any updates. You may also try calling your immigration court to request information and remind them of your case.

If the system indicates that an immigration judge ordered your removal and you never had an Individual Hearing, it is likely that you missed a hearing. However, there may still be steps you can take. More information about options after receiving a removal order is available in section 16. You should also contact an attorney as soon as possible.

If the system shows that the judge ordered removal after your Individual Hearing, this usually means that the judge issued a negative decision on your asylum case. However, you may continue fighting your case by filing an appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) within 30 days of the decision. You cannot be removed while your appeal is pending. See section 14 for more details.

If you have additional questions, you may also call your immigration court for clarification.
